How to use public info to do a criminal background on a prospective tenant?

    I will second publicdata.com as a great source.  I've used it extensively in the past.

    If I were you I would also run a credit check.  They usually run $40-75.  Just collect an application fee from the tenant.  Then you also know they are serious.
