I have a report I pulled with data, contacts I need to format into first name, last name, for skip tracing. But the data comes in the format of last name first name (same cell/column) and additional first name (next cell/column)...

is there a smart way to format this information into first name/s last names, adjoining columns...?

    Thank you!!!

Maybe do text to Columns depending on how the data looks?

    Thank you Brian,

I tried that and it seems to work best, However when it overwrites some data in a couple of adjoining columns...stuff I would like to keep.

    Rich,

Before you perform the Text-To-Columns conversion, insert a few blank columns immediately to the right of the data column. For example, if your data column has First Name, Last Name, insert two blank columns to the right of the data column. That should make cells available to put the results without overwriting other information.

    Thank you Terry,

i tried inserting 1 blank column but when that didn't work I stopped there. I will follow your lead.

    Thanks!
