Recently received my new tax appraisal and am not happy with it. I have no idea how to protest (what information to gather to provide to TAD to justify that they have increased the valuation too much.) Can anyone send me in the right direction to learn what I need to know or to someone who could help. Thanks for any guidance!!

    Hi Cindy,

I use DFWTaxAdvisor.com.  It helps if you can get all of your pics of defects and a short message about why you think your tax appraisal should be lower all in one package and e-mail it in.  Try to give them enough time to review your case and ask questions.  You'll need to be pro-active in contacting them about your case; sometimes they just take the info you send and do the best they can with that.

    Hope this helps,
    Jesus

We'll be offering a half-day Tax Protest class  in early-to-mid May on this very topic.  We cover everything from the timing of when you can/should file a protest to how to navigate through the process.  I've been very successful at protesting tax values over the years.  I've saved many thousands of dollars in taxes as have our students.  Keep an eye on your emails for more info on the class.
