Prospective tenant with No credit history

I am trying to rent a 3-2 house in Burleson. I have a guy that has owned a contractor company for 13 years.  I pulled the credit/criminal report. The report has no credit score, no delinquent accounts, no bankruptcy, all the financial ratings show: No Credit. No criminal activity  and No address history either. The guy says he pays cash for everything. But I am suspicious.  He won't give me tax records.  I can't find a record of the company on the Internet or BBB.  It really looks like the credit report of a child, but this guy is 35.  Something's fishy here, any thoughts?

Secondly, I checked the landlord reference, he rented 1 house for 10 years.  But the landlord is not the individual named on the tax record, I asked the lady who owns the house. She said she is a business partner with the owner but she wouldn't release the name of the owner.  Do you all check tax records to make sure up you are talking to the real owners?

I'll use an old saying to answer your question very succinctly.  "There are plenty of fish in the sea."  Why not just find someone else?

If there are no other prospects.  Get additional information from this guy.  Ask for a copy of his social security card, DLs., current utility bills, etc.  I would be asking for bank statements as well.   Google his previous residences owner and give him/her a call.  Get 1st, last and at least one months deposit if you choose to rent to him.

Let me preface this by saying that I don't do a lot of rentals AT ALL.... That said, I would have to agree with Robin.  I wouldn't even think about renting to this person. Too much unnecessary risk (by way of the unknown) and too many other people who are looking for rentals.... Frankly, I'd choose someone with a borderline credit score/profile before I would move forward with renting to this person.
