Need Advice

    Hi folks

     

    I have some rental properties that I had put for sale on MLS but no signs anywhere as they are tenant occupied.  Today I had tenants call me that someone had put up signs in the yard and multiple places in the neighborhood that "House For Sale" with a contact number.  I called the number on signs but there is no response.

     

    My tenants are disturbed and this has happened without my authorization.  Can you advice what should be the steps I should take i.e call Police, City?

    Your realtor probably knows what's going on.  Call and leave a message that you're very interested in the property, and someone will probably call you.  If you didn't authorize the signs, pull them up and take them home.  Your realtor can go pick them up, or you can throw them away if they are unclaimed.  It would be strange if they appeared repeatedly.  Take it from one landlord to another, the cops won't help you.

    There is a scam where people sell property they don't own.  It seems possible that this is what's going on with your property.  I'd check with whatever realtor listed your property on MLS first, but if they weren't involved, the FBI might be the resource you want:
