Found these 2 books on BiggerPockets by J Scott. The Book on Flipping Houses & The Book on Estimating Rehab Costs. Would not have even looked at them other than BiggerPockets seems to be credible.

The first one - "The Book on Flipping Houses, written by active real estate fix-and-flipper J Scott, contains more than 300 pages of detailed, step-by-step training perfect for both the complete newbie or seasoned pro looking to build a killer house flipping business. Whatever your skill level, The Book on Flipping Houses will teach you everything you need to know to build a profitable, efficient house flipping business and start living the life of your dreams."

That's a big promise.  But as a newcomer, I am taking in information from every direction.  Just wondered if anyone had seen these and thought they were good .... or not.

They cost $30 ea. on Amazon.

And what do you think of BiggerPockers also anyway?

Bigger Pockets has a good website.  Some of it's content is good.  Some isn't.  I haven't read the books you referenced, so I can't offer an opinion on them.  However, I have read plenty of other good books on these topics and taken multiple related courses.  The info in the books and courses I've studied was good, but the major portion of my Real Estate education, as you might expect, has come from first-hand experience in working deals and from talking with my fellow investors at networking meetings.

    Hi,

I've been following J Scott for a while now.  His books are pretty good, and the estimating items are helpful.  As already stated, much will come from experience, but this does provide a good framework to start with.

    Tootles,

    Jim

I really like J. Scott's books.  His price estimates aren't always relevant to our market but he outlines how to fix that, and his tips on how to evaluate the work a rehab will need are in my opinion very valuable.  The books are nicely organized, the content is very clear and the concepts can be understood by someone with no construction or flipping experience.  He's a natural teacher.  I have both books and consider the money to have been well-spent.

You might be able to get the books for a little less ordering direct from the BP website instead of Amazon.  I want to say I paid $49 for the set.
