Mold and Seller's Disclosure Question

I realize most people cannot offer legal advice, I am just wondering if I may have any options or if anybody has advice.

I purchased my primary residence June 2013 (less than a year ago). I just discovered a mold problem underneath the kitchen sink cabinets and I am getting an estimate from a remediation expert tomorrow.

Here is my question... if the seller disclosed that they had a significant leak underneath the sink in May 2012 (and it was obviously cleaned up with a towel and a fan, but nothing done to professionally dry the entire area and drywall), but did not mention anything about mold, 1) could they be liable for the wood rot and mold damage that has been growing for almost 2 years? and 2) if not, is this something that should have been caught, or looked into in more detail, by an inspector prior to us purchasing the home?

It is looking like it could be several thousand dollars to remediate the mold problem and replace everything. This isnot an investment property and was not purchased through short-sale/foreclosure or any other typical "as is" transaction. If I relied on the seller's disclosure and the home inspector to alert me to any potential problems, do I have any options to alleviate the monetary burden from being completely on me?

    Thanks,

    Alan
