I came across a house that has an averaged sized pool.  The buyer may not want it.  Have any of you guys ever removed a pool?  How much?  This one is in the ground.  Thanks!  Dave

    Dave,

You NEED to get bids from pool removal companies BEFORE you buy the house. The "average" cost to remove a pool (cave in the sides and cover with dirt and grass) is about $5K.

That said, the cost to remove a pool can vary WILDLY depending on the municipality's code requirements (i.e. can you cave in the sides, or do you have to dig everything up and haul it out of the city/county?). You'll need to know that BEFORE you buy it, otherwise you may end up quickly going upside-down.

The whole thing can usually be completed in 24-72 hours.

If you have any questions, or if there's anything else I can do to help you grow your business, please do not hesitate to call me.

Thanks Greg.  It's a potential wholesale deal so there's no contract.  Dave

My experience has been the same as Greg's at $4,500 to $5,000.  Many variables such as size, amount of dirt required, access to the pool, distance/location of the house.  Be sure they punch holes in the bottom for drainage or your going to have a problem.

    Good luck.
