I have a question for y'all. Is ok to do something, as long as I have not been told it is illegal?

    LMK you thoughts.

    Thanks!

If you don’t know, you don’t know.  If you don’t have lingering doubts, go ahead with it.

Having started my career off in a CPA firm and later as the owner of a securities broker dealer firm, I’m inclined to check before I step into the lawyer goo.  I also like to make sure the Fort Worth Star-Telegram has a likeable picture of me on file.

There are always moral or ethical issues that override regardless whether something is legal or not.  There have been times in my life that I didn’t know there was a legal issue.  But, when I feel my conscience is pulling at me, I would certainly determine GO or No Go. Then I sleep well at night.

It's never right to do the wrong thing.  However, just because something's illegal doesn't mean it wrong, and the mere fact that something's legal doesn't make it right.  There's no good answer for a question without specifics.

    Proverbs 27:12

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions.

The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

While I've not always agreed that there's a correlation between "legal" and "moral", I tend to side with the guys that can lock me away for a decade.  If that's not enough for you, you can always look at it from the Risk/Reward point of view.  If we see a picture of you in orange anytime soon we'll know how things worked out for you.

Ignorance of the law excuses no man: Not that all men know the law, but because 'tis an excuse every man will plead, and no man can tell how to refute him.

Ignorance of the law never protects you from criminal or civil prosecution. If you think you're right and are prepared to fight, or you have a moral obligation prompting civil disobedience and are prepared to suffer the consequences to shine a light on bad law, proceed. But simply not knowing and not researching? Inexcusable.
