Does anybody know where/from whom I can get a charge of R22?!

Otherwise, I'm going to be looking at replacing two AC systems!

I know I'l have to eventually, but there's nothing wrong with these two right now.

    Thanks

I don't have any firsthand experience with this, but to the best of my knowledge, you have to be EPA certified to buy it directly.

HVAC repair companies should still be able to get it, but it is getting very expensive.

There are some listings on ebay, but I don't know how legitimate they are.

    Good luck!

Ebay does sell it but its not cheap to say the least.  They sell it in 5,10 and 30 pound canisters.  In my experience ac guys always want to replace the unit instead of fixing what's there.  I have ac that are 50 years old and there still going.  I just had my ac guy tell me to replace a unit because it was old and leaking.  I went to the house and fixed the problem in about 2 hours.  Buyer beware when it comes to ac guys.  They really don't want to mess with old systems in my experience.

R22 is extremely expensive and getting harder to find. There has not been any new production for years. As a result when I have compressor problems (outside unit and the more expensive side of the system) I get it replaced. To me it's more cost effective in the long run. If your system is just a little low it's probably better to pay a professional to top it up. Shop around since tech costs very widely. As for do it yourself from what I recall it is a federal crime to let any r22 into the atmosphere.

Thanks for the responses. My AC service does not carry R22 anymore.

That was the point of my question: please recommend a company that will top off my systems.

Your service company can get NU22 which is a replacement for the discontinued Rs22.  It’s $25 to $40lb.
