The last one I signed was several months ago, and, as I recall, it was for a paltry $2500.00/acre. The one before that was at $4K/acre. The good news is that I'm now actually getting fairly regular royalty checks on four properties, so... even though the bonuses aren't what they once were, it's better to get something rather than nothing. I even have one property that I got a big bonus on a few years ago whose lease expired without the renewal option being exercised, and now another company has leased it, given me another bonuse (much smaller than the first), and now I'm receiving royalties. Some may like to hold out, etc., and I understand that. Negotiation is a critical part of our business, but if you get nothing, how good of a negotiator are you.
