Click Here for some interesting thoughts (and related emotions) you don't normally hear on the news about the eviction moratorium.

What are your thoughts on this?

I agree with the characterization of this situation being labeled as government sponsored robbery.

And I love the lady they interviewed, she has a simple solution: print more money and have the government pay everyone's rent.  Idiot.

Did you all see the news that a federal judge ruled the eviction moratorium unconstitutional?

Finally! It's good to know there is some logic left in the government.

And now, the DOJ has appealed the decision which declared the moratorium unconstitutional. Unbelievable!

Neither one of these developments is a surprise to me.  If it's appealed all the way to the Supreme Court, I expect the eviction moratorium to be ruled unconstitutional at that level too.

I think the lawmakers know it will be struck down eventually, but they know they can get away with it in the meantime

All the tenants I have that are behind were in trouble before the pandemic ever got here.  Washington is just enabling them some more.  If your going to hinder landlords from running their business then come up with a solution to pay tenants rent.  Texas Rent Relief will help if you can ever figure it out and get the money.  Why should we have to do more work when we have a legal lease that explains how the prosses is suppose to work.

That is exactly the point: Landlords are running a private business.  The government does not have the right to control what a private business does or does not do.

Just follow the money to make sense of it. Fannie and Freddie are the end beneficiaries of a massive wave of foreclosures. My conclusion is that the CDC eviction ban is engineered by the government to setup a massive transfer of wealth from the middle class back to the government with the banks (middle men) catching all the bad publicity for it.

The CDC Eviction ban only applies to evictions for non payment of rent by individuals who are willing to swear under oath that the reason they haven't paid the rent is because they have been economically impacted by COVID19. So, the only qualifying test for the Center For Disease Control's protections to prevent loosing your current shelter are that you be willing to sign a sworn affidavit attesting to the fact that you have suffered negative economic impact due to the disease.

Anyway, So, why not just change the terms of the lease to M2M. Then if they overstay the lease without paying, you simply give the 3D notice and evict because the lease is expired and you simply want to recover the property.  If pressed by a judge for a reason, not that it is any of his business, you could offer any one of a number of politically correct scenarios for wanting to recover the property.

    1. I want to remodel and sell the property

    2. I want to occupy the property myself
