Shower wall set vs tile in rental, cost effective long term? is tile worth the extra cost?

I'm upgrading several units and the shower tile needs work.  One unit needs a full revamping in shower, another needs touch-up.  The tubs are OK.

Lowes, H depot have acrylic 3 panel sets that work over an existing tub.  What has other investors experience with these upgrades (vs a new tile job).  Do prospective tenants go "eeeewww cheap" or does the look of new installation appeal to them?

I have an installer ready whom I trust, thorough work, never sloppy or skipping details.  But I've found very little info (no reviews) online.

Also how well do they hold up?  how well do they clean up (for the next tenants)?

    thanks in advance

I don’t know about the surrounds but I have gone from metal tubs to plastic about 5 years ago. They hold up well and seem harder to damage. I am going to be trying my first surround on my current project. I made the decision after a bit of reading. It will be a 4ft shower stall for a bathroom that is being added. From what I have read stay away from those thin flimsy ones. Cost wise it seems to be about the same to me. I don’t think that it looks cheap unless you get the really cheap looking ones.
