    As the title suggest, I want to establish an account with a supplier where I can buy plumbing supplies at wholesale. Right now I'm looking for a 50 gal. gas water heater. Or if your experience is such that you think the "big box" stores are at a price point which makes that unnecessary let me know.

    Ron,

    Your standard 40 gallon electric water heaters are very reasonable at HD but once you get to 50 I'd suggest Van Marcke, Moore or Barnett.  You can just go in and say your an independent contractor that pays cash.
